Luke Littler has revealed the secret behind his incredible Grand Slam of Darts win over Mike De Decker.
Littler, who is ranked 77th in the world, produced a stunning performance to beat the eighth-ranked De Decker 16-13 in the first round of the tournament.
The win was a major upset, and Littler admitted afterwards that he had not expected to beat De Decker. However, he said that he had prepared well for the match and had executed his game plan perfectly.
“I knew that I had to play well to beat Mike,” said Littler. “He is a great player, and I knew that I would have to be at my best to have a chance of winning. I prepared well for the match, and I was confident that I could do it.”
Littler said that the key to his victory was his ability to score heavily on the doubles. He hit 12 doubles in the match, including several at crucial moments.
“I was hitting my doubles really well,” said Littler. “That was the key to my win. I was able to put pressure on Mike, and I was able to take my chances when they came.”
Littler’s win over De Decker was a major breakthrough for the young player. He is now through to the second round of the Grand Slam of Darts, where he will face James Wade.
