M25 traffic live as 'serious accident' sees air ambulance land and all vehicles held

All traffic is being held on the M25 this morning after a serious accident. Witnesses have described seeing multiple emergency services at the crash scene including an air ambulance that has landed on the carriageway.
Surrey Police has confirmed that all traffic has been stopped in both directions between junction 8 for Reigate and junction 9 for Leatherhead following the collision which involved multiple vehicles.
Officers closed the motorway around 8.15am this morning and there are delays of up to an hour as traffic is diverted through local roads.
What we know so far
Surrey Police has not yet released details of the incident but witnesses have stated that they saw multiple vehicles involved in the crash and debris across the carriageway. The air ambulance landed at around 8.45am.
Surrey Police has asked drivers to avoid the area if possible and said that road closures are likely to remain in place for several hours.
