Wales v Australia: Tomos Williams out as Warren Gatland makes four changes

Tomos Williams has been ruled out of Wales' clash with Australia on Saturday due to a shoulder injury.

The scrum-half suffered the injury in training and has been replaced in the starting XV by Gareth Davies.

Gatland has also made three other changes to his team, with Josh Navidi, Adam Beard and Liam Williams coming into the side.

Navidi replaces Ellis Jenkins at openside flanker, Beard replaces Jake Ball in the second row and Liam Williams replaces Leigh Halfpenny at full-back.

Gatland said he was "disappointed" to lose Williams, but is confident that Davies will be able to step up.

"Tomos has been in great form for us this season, but unfortunately he has picked up a shoulder injury in training," Gatland said.

"We're disappointed to lose him, but we have a lot of faith in Gareth Davies. He's a quality player and I'm sure he'll be able to do a job for us on Saturday."

Gatland also explained the reasons behind his other three changes.

"Josh Navidi has been playing really well for Cardiff Blues and he deserves a chance to start," Gatland said.

"Adam Beard has also been playing well and he's a physical presence in the second row.

"Liam Williams is a world-class player and he'll give us some added attacking threat at full-back."

Wales will be looking to bounce back from their defeat to England in their opening game of the Autumn Nations Series.

They will be confident of beating Australia, who they have not lost to since 2018.
