Two rushed to hospital after multi-vehicle A12 crash near Colchester
Emergency services were called to scene following crash involving six cars on A12 near Colchester
Two people were rushed to hospital following a multi-vehicle crash on the A12 near Colchester yesterday (May 16).
The collision involving six cars happened on the southbound carriageway between junction 25 (Marks Tey) and junction 26 (Copdock) at around 4.30pm.Two patients were assessed and treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Colchester Hospital for further care.
A spokesperson for the East of England Ambulance Service said: "Two ambulances, a rapid response vehicle and an ambulance officer attended following reports of a road traffic collision on the A12 southbound between Marks Tey and Copdock.
"Crews treated two patients at the scene before transporting them both to Colchester Hospital for further care."
Essex Police closed the southbound carriageway for several hours while emergency services dealt with the incident.
The road has now been fully reopened, but police are appealing for witnesses to the collision to come forward.
"We received a call just before 4.30pm this afternoon reporting a collision involving six vehicles on the A12 southbound between Marks Tey and Copdock," a spokesperson for Essex Police said.
"Emergency services attended and two people were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
"The road was closed for some time while we worked at the scene and we would like to thank motorists for their patience and understanding.
"We are now appealing for any witnesses to the collision to come forward and contact us on 101 quoting incident 754 of May 16."
