Kailash Gahlot joins BJP in presence of Khattar and Harsh Malhotra
In a significant political development, former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Kailash Gahlot joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday. The development comes ahead of the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections scheduled for early next year.
Gahlot joined the BJP in the presence of Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Delhi BJP chief Harsh Malhotra. He was welcomed into the party with a traditional 'tilak' ceremony.
Speaking to reporters after joining the BJP, Gahlot said that he was impressed by the party's leadership and its commitment to development. He also said that he was confident that the BJP would win the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.
The BJP's Delhi unit has welcomed Gahlot's induction into the party. Malhotra said that Gahlot is a "valuable addition" to the party and that he will play an important role in the upcoming elections.
Gahlot's exit from the AAP is a major setback for the party. He was considered to be one of the AAP's most prominent leaders and was seen as a potential successor to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
The AAP has accused the BJP of poaching its leaders ahead of the elections. The party has also alleged that the BJP is using money and muscle power to win the elections.
The BJP has denied these allegations and has said that it is confident of winning the elections on its own strength.
