A MAN charged with murdering a Southport dad when he was repeatedly stabbed on a city street will appear in court today.
Axel Rudakubana, 23, is accused of knifing dad-of-five Aaron Lake, 31, on Walmer Street in Southport at around 9pm on June 13.
Mr Lake was taken to hospital with multiple stab wounds but died a short time later.
Rudakubana, of Hawthorne Road, Bootle, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court this morning via video link from HMP Altcourse charged with murder.
The defendant, with short dark hair and wearing a grey sweatshirt, spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth.
No pleas were entered at this stage and Judge Andrew Menary, QC, remanded Rudakubana in custody until his next court appearance.
He told the defendant: "You will next appear at the same court for a plea and trial preparation hearing on July 11.
"In the meantime, you will be remanded in custody."
