McIlroy Claims Third Race to Dubai Title
Rory McIlroy has won the DP World Tour Championship and the Race to Dubai for the third time in his career. The Northern Irishman held off a challenge from Jon Rahm to win the season-ending event by one shot, and with it, the Race to Dubai title.
McIlroy's Winning Round
McIlroy shot a final round of 66 to finish on 15 under par, one ahead of Rahm. The 33-year-old began the day two shots behind Rahm, but he birdied the first two holes to take the lead.
McIlroy held onto his lead throughout the round, and he even extended it to two shots at one point. However, Rahm birdied the 16th and 17th holes to close the gap.
McIlroy's Victory Celebration
McIlroy safely parred the 18th hole to win the tournament and the Race to Dubai title. He was greeted by his wife and children on the green, and he celebrated with a glass of champagne.
McIlroy's Impressive Season
McIlroy's victory at the DP World Tour Championship capped off an impressive season for the Northern Irishman. He won three other tournaments on the DP World Tour, including the BMW PGA Championship and the Open Championship.
McIlroy also finished in the top 10 in all four major championships, and he was ranked number one in the world for much of the year.
McIlroy's Goals for 2023
McIlroy will now turn his attention to the new season, and he has set himself some ambitious goals.
He wants to win more major championships, and he also wants to win the FedEx Cup for the first time. McIlroy is also hoping to help Europe regain the Ryder Cup from the United States.
