News Lazio: Guendouzi criticizes Tudor, debut for Tavares
Sarri's team defeated by Udinese in the last league game
Lazio returned to training today after their disappointing 1-0 defeat to Udinese on Saturday. The Biancocelesti were outplayed by their opponents and never really looked like getting back into the game.
Coach Maurizio Sarri was understandably frustrated after the match and made no secret of his displeasure with his team's performance. He said: "We were not good enough today. We didn't play with the intensity or the quality that we needed to win the game.
Guendouzi criticizes Tudor's tactics
One of the most disappointing players on the day was midfielder Matteo Guendouzi. The Frenchman was substituted at half-time after a poor display and he has since criticized Sarri's tactics.
Guendouzi said: "I don't think the coach's tactics were right today. We were playing too deep and we were not creating enough chances. I think we need to be more attacking if we want to win games."
Tavares makes his debut
Despite the defeat, there was one positive for Lazio as defender Nuno Tavares made his debut for the club. The Portuguese left-back joined from Arsenal in the summer and he impressed on his first appearance.
Tavares was solid defensively and he also showed some good attacking qualities. He is still adapting to Sarri's tactics, but he looks like a good addition to the squad.
Lazio's next match
Lazio will be looking to bounce back from their defeat to Udinese when they face Feyenoord in the Europa League on Thursday.
The Biancocelesti will be confident of getting a good result against the Dutch side, who are not in good form at the moment.
Lazio's recent form
Lazio have won just two of their last five matches in all competitions. They have lost to Udinese, Atalanta, and Feyenoord, and they have drawn with Napoli and Cremonese.
Sarri's team is currently 10th in the Serie A standings, seven points behind leaders Napoli.
