Matildas superstar Sam Kerr and her fiancée, US soccer star Kristie Mewis, have announced they are expecting a baby, set to arrive in 2023. The couple shared the exciting news with fans on Instagram on Thursday, each posting photos with the caption "We can't wait to meet you, little one".

Kerr's Matildas teammates and fans took to social media to congratulate the couple. Ellie Carpenter posted "Congrats to my favourite couple", while Steph Catley wrote: "Yay! So happy for you both". US teammate Megan Rapinoe commented on Mewis' post, writing "Can't wait to meet the little legend!"
Kerr and Mewis have been dating since 2019
Kerr and Mewis met while playing for their respective national teams at the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup. They announced their engagement in October 2020 and the couple has been living together overseas for the past few years.
Kerr is currently playing for Chelsea in the English Women's Super League (WSL).
The 29-year-old striker has been in impressive form for the Blues this season, scoring 20 goals in 19 appearances. Kerr is considered one of the best female footballers in the world and has won numerous awards, including the WSL Golden Boot and the PFA Women's Players' Player of the Year award.
Mewis plays for Kansas City Current in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL).
The 30-year-old midfielder is a two-time World Cup champion with the US women's national team. Mewis has also won the NWSL Championship and the NWSL MVP award.
The couple is excited to start a family together
In an interview with The Players' Tribune, Kerr said she is "really excited" to become a mother. "I think I am going to be a good mom. I am going to be very supportive," she said.
Mewis has also expressed her excitement about starting a family with Kerr, saying: "We have always wanted to be parents. We're so happy that it's finally happening."
