Reggio Emilia hands La Reyer Venice first home defeat of season
Reggio Emilia went on an away trip to defeat hosts La Reyer Venice in the Italian Lega Basket Serie A (LBA).
Reggio Emilia snapped an eight-game losing streak with their 84-77 triumph over La Reyer Venice at the Taliercio on Sunday.
It was La Reyer Venice's first home defeat this season, as they fell to 9-4 with the loss.
Reggio Emilia, meanwhile, improved to 6-7 with the win.
Amedeo Della Valle leads Reggio Emilia past La Reyer Venice
Amedeo Della Valle led the charge for Reggio Emilia with a 22-point performance.
He was ably supported by Andrea Cinciarini and Justin Carter, who each scored 16 points.
For La Reyer Venice, Jermaine Franklin was the top scorer with 17 points, while Allerik Freeman added 15 points and Marco Spissu contributed 14 points.
La Reyer Venice's struggles continue
La Reyer Venice has now lost four of their last five games and will look to return to winning ways when they host Dolomiti Energia Trento on Wednesday.
Reggio Emilia, meanwhile, will be aiming to build on their victory when they travel to face Banco di Sardegna Sassari on Thursday.
Post-game reaction
Reggio Emilia coach Attilio Caja was pleased with his team's performance.
"We played a great game tonight," Caja said. "We were able to control the tempo of the game and make our shots. I'm very proud of my players."
La Reyer Venice coach Walter De Raffaele was disappointed with his team's showing.
"We didn't play well tonight," De Raffaele said. "We made too many mistakes and we weren't able to make our shots. We need to learn from this and move on."
