Kailash Gahlot Joins BJP: Says AAP Not Left Under Pressure From ED-CBI; Tomorrow Atishi Resigns From Cabinet And Party
Kailash Gahlot, Delhi Jal Board chairman and AAP leader, joined the BJP on Monday.
He said that he was not leaving the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) under pressure from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) or the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Gahlot said that he was joining the BJP because he was impressed by the party's leadership and its policies.
The development comes a day after AAP MLA Atishi Marlena resigned from the Delhi government's cabinet and the party.
Marlena had said that she was resigning because she was not happy with the direction in which the party was headed.
Gahlot's and Marlena's exits are a major setback for the AAP, which is already facing a number of challenges.
The party has been criticized for its handling of the Delhi riots, its alleged involvement in the liquor scam, and its failure to fulfill its promises.
The BJP, on the other hand, has been trying to expand its base in Delhi.
The party has been successful in winning over some AAP leaders, including former Delhi minister Kapil Mishra.
The BJP is hoping that Gahlot's and Marlena's joining will help it win over more voters in Delhi.
The AAP, however, is confident that it will be able to overcome these challenges and retain power in Delhi.
The party is hoping that its focus on development and its commitment to the people of Delhi will help it win the next election.
