Johnson pushes case for full-time role with another SCG special

Sydney Sixers' Dan Christian says it is not up to him if he earns full-time national selection after putting himself in the frame with an SCG special.

Christian starred with both bat and ball as the Sixers booked their place in Saturday night's grand final with a 14-run win over the Perth Scorchers.

The 37-year-old smashed a 29-ball 54 at the top of the order, including four sixes, before claiming 3-20 from his four overs as the Scorchers fell short of the Sixers' 5-188.

It marked Christian's second match-winning performance at the SCG in BBL|11, having earlier this season starred with a six-wicket haul against the Melbourne Stars.

Christian, who has only played 23 ODIs and 21 T20s for Australia, is hoping his latest SCG heroics will be enough to convince national selectors to offer him a full-time role.

"I don't know if it's up to me. I just play the game, and they pick the team," Christian said.

"If they want to pick me, I'll be there. If they don't, I'll probably retire."

Christian's 54 was the highest score of his BBL career and came after he was promoted to the top of the order.

"I just wanted to try and bat a little bit longer and give myself a chance to face a few more balls," Christian said.

"I've been hitting the ball well, but I've been getting out early. So it was nice to get a few more runs today."

Christian's 3-20 was also his best bowling figures of the season, and he was particularly effective in the powerplay.

"I just tried to bowl nice and full and straight and make them hit me," Christian said.

"I got a bit of luck, but I also bowled a few good balls."

The Sixers will now face the winner of Friday night's semi-final between the Brisbane Heat and Adelaide Strikers in Saturday night's grand final.

Christian is confident the Sixers can win their third BBL title, having previously tasted success in BBL|06 and BBL|09.

"We've got a good team," Christian said.

"We've played well all season, and we're peaking at the right time."
