ITV I'm A Celebrity star GK Barry defies bosses after sneaking in 'banned' items
Football legend Gareth Barry has rebelled against I'm A Celebrity bosses and smuggled a number of forbidden items into the jungle camp.
The 42-year-old former Aston Villa and Manchester City midfielder managed to conceal a number of items in his luggage, including a mobile phone, a packet of cigarettes, and a lighter.
Barry's actions have angered the show's producers, who have warned him that he could be removed from the camp if he does not hand over the contraband.
A source told The Sun: "The producers are furious. They have made it very clear to the celebrities that they are not allowed to bring any personal belongings into the camp. Gareth has completely ignored their instructions." Another insider said: "Gareth is a popular figure in the camp, but he is also a bit of a rogue. He likes to do things his own way and he doesn't always follow the rules."
Barry's defiance is likely to cause tension in the camp.
Some of the other celebrities are said to be angry that he has broken the rules, while others are said to be amused by his antics. It remains to be seen whether Barry will be able to keep his contraband hidden from the producers for the rest of his time in the camp.
If he is caught, he could face serious consequences.
In previous seasons, celebrities who have been caught smuggling items into the camp have been given warnings, had their items confiscated, or even been removed from the show. It is unclear what punishment Barry will face if he is caught.
But one thing is for sure: his actions have not gone unnoticed by the producers.
Barry is not the first celebrity to try to sneak contraband into the I'm A Celebrity camp. In 2019, former footballer Ian Wright was caught trying to bring in a packet of crisps. And in 2018, former MP Stanley Johnson was caught trying to bring in a bottle of wine.
However, Barry's attempt to smuggle in a mobile phone is particularly serious.
The show's producers have made it clear that mobile phones are not allowed in the camp because they could allow the celebrities to contact the outside world. This would破坏the show's format and could give the celebrities an unfair advantage over the other contestants.
Barry's actions have put the producers in a difficult position. They do not want to be seen as being too lenient, but they also do not want to alienate one of the show's most popular contestants.
It will be interesting to see how they deal with Barry's defiance.
In the meantime, Barry continues to enjoy his time in the camp. He has been bonding with the other celebrities and has been taking part in a number of challenges.
He is currently one of the favorites to win the show.
Only time will tell whether Barry's defiance will cost him the crown.
