I’m A Celebrity’s Tulisa opens up on ‘year from hell’ after drug scandal
Singer and TV star Tulisa Contostavlos has opened up about her ‘year from hell’ after she was arrested for supplying class A drugs.
The former N-Dubz singer was sentenced to 26 weeks in prison in 2014 after being caught on camera selling cocaine to an undercover reporter.
In a new interview, Tulisa said she was "ashamed" of her actions and that she had "let herself and everyone else down."
She said she had been "in a dark place" at the time and that she had been using drugs to cope with her problems.
"I was self-medicating with drugs and alcohol and I was in a really bad way," she said.
Tulisa said she had been "naive" to think that she could get away with selling drugs and that she had paid a "heavy price" for her mistake.
"I lost everything - my career, my friends, my family - and I was so close to losing my life," she said.
Tulisa said she had been "through hell" since her arrest but that she was now "in a much better place."
She said she had learned from her mistakes and that she was determined to make a fresh start.
"I'm not the same person I was before," she said. "I'm stronger now and I'm more determined to make the most of my life."
