Girls Aloud to reunite for one-off ITV special to mark 20th anniversary
The five-piece will come together to celebrate two decades since winning Popstars: The Rivals
Girls Aloud are reuniting for a one-off ITV special to mark the 20th anniversary of their formation. Cheryl, Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts, Kimberley Walsh and the late Sarah Harding will all feature in the programme, which will air later this year.
The five-piece were formed on the ITV talent show Popstars: The Rivals in 2002 and went on to become one of the most successful girl groups of all time, with 20 consecutive top ten singles and four number ones.
They split in 2013 but have reunited on several occasions since then, most notably for a performance at the 2013 BRIT Awards. The ITV special will be their first major television appearance together since 2019.
Cheryl said: "I'm so excited to be reuniting with the girls for our 20th anniversary. It's going to be a really special show and we can't wait to perform together again."
Kimberley added: "It's going to be so much fun to get back together and celebrate everything we've achieved over the past 20 years. We've got some really exciting plans for the show and we can't wait to share them with our fans."
ITV's Head of Entertainment, Katie Rawcliffe, said: "Girls Aloud are one of the most iconic girl groups of all time and we're thrilled to be working with them on this special programme. It's going to be a night of nostalgia and celebration and we can't wait to see the girls back on stage together."
The Girls Aloud reunion special will air on ITV later this year.
