Police cordon off area after bodies of man and woman found in house

Armed police, forensic officers and a police cordon descended on a residential area in St Leonards, East Sussex, following the discovery of the bodies of two people inside a house this morning.

Officers were called to the scene in Filsham Road at around 8.10am following concerns for the welfare of the occupants.

Upon entering the property, officers discovered the bodies of a man and a woman.

The deaths are currently being treated as unexplained and a large cordon remains in place while police carry out enquiries.

Detective Chief Inspector Emma Heater, of the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team, said: "We are in the early stages of our investigation but I can confirm that we are treating the deaths of these two people as unexplained at this time.

"We are carrying out a number of enquiries to establish the circumstances and I would urge anyone who has any information that could assist our investigation to come forward."

Anyone with information is asked to contact police online or by calling 101 quoting Operation Castle.

Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
