England still need Harry Kane - but Ollie Watkins & Co. are ensuring future beyond Three Lions' record goalscorer looks much brighter
Kane will remain England's talisman for the foreseeable future but the emergence of other options is a welcome boost for Gareth Southgate
Harry Kane will start England's Nations League semi-final against the Netherlands on Thursday but the captain's spot in Gareth Southgate's team is no longer guaranteed.
The Tottenham striker remains England's talisman and record goalscorer but the emergence of Ollie Watkins, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and others is ensuring the future beyond Kane looks much brighter.
Watkins has scored three goals in his last four England appearances, while Calvert-Lewin has also impressed in recent months.
Southgate has a wealth of attacking options to choose from and he is likely to rotate his team during the Nations League Finals.
But Kane is still the main man and he will be looking to add to his record tally of 51 goals for England.
Watkins and Calvert-Lewin are pushing Kane for a starting spot
Watkins has been in impressive form for Aston Villa this season, scoring 10 goals in 29 appearances.
The 25-year-old has also been a regular for England, making his debut in September 2020.
Calvert-Lewin has also been in good form for Everton, scoring 13 goals in 26 appearances this season.
The 24-year-old has also been a regular for England, making his debut in October 2020.
Southgate has a wealth of attacking options to choose from
In addition to Kane, Watkins and Calvert-Lewin, Southgate also has a number of other attacking options to choose from.
These include Raheem Sterling, Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Phil Foden.
Southgate is likely to rotate his team during the Nations League Finals, but Kane is likely to remain the main man.
