Delhi Airport Engulfed by Dense Fog, Leading to Cancellation of Seven Flights
Airport Operations Disrupted as Visibility Plummets
Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in New Delhi has been experiencing dense fog conditions since early morning, causing major disruptions to flight operations. As of 9 am, seven flights have been canceled due to poor visibility, affecting both domestic and international travel.
According to airport authorities, the visibility has dropped to less than 50 meters, making it unsafe for aircraft to take off or land. Flights to various destinations, including Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, and Dubai, have been impacted by the fog.
Passengers Advised to Check Flight Status
Airport authorities have advised passengers to check the status of their flights before departing for the airport. They can do so by contacting their respective airlines or visiting the IGIA website.
Those who have been affected by the cancellations are being accommodated on alternative flights or offered refunds. Airport staff are working to minimize inconvenience and assist passengers in every possible way.
Fog Expected to Persist
Meteorological experts predict that the fog conditions are likely to persist throughout the day. Visibility is expected to improve gradually by evening, but further flight delays and cancellations cannot be ruled out.
Passengers are advised to be patient and follow the instructions of airport authorities. They are also reminded to stay warm and take precautions against the cold weather.
