Boulter happy to be ‘under the radar’ next to Raducanu as GB win at BJK Cup

Katie Boulter believes she can thrive under the radar next to Emma Raducanu as Great Britain beat Spain 3-1 to reach the semi-finals of the Billie Jean King Cup Finals.

Boulter and Raducanu played a decisive doubles match to beat Aliona Bolsova and Rebeka Masarova 6-4, 6-4 and ensure Britain's progress in Glasgow.

Raducanu is Britain's number one and the face of the women's game following her US Open triumph last year but Boulter is quietly establishing herself as the nation's second-best player.

She has won more matches than any other British player this year and is hoping to use the BJK Cup Finals to transform her career and break into the world's top 50.

Boulter said: "I do feel a bit under the radar but I actually don't mind that. I quite like being able to do my own thing, come out here and play freely with no pressure or expectation.

"I can go out there and play my game. Of course, everyone wants to be number one, but I don't think about that.

"I'm just going to concentrate on my game and keep improving, and hopefully I can break into the top 50 by the end of the year."

Boulter and Raducanu have only played doubles together once before, at the Transylvania Open in October, but they showed great understanding in Glasgow.

Boulter said: "We communicate really well, even though we just had a little bit of time together on court before the match.

"We're both quite fiery and competitive, so we get along well. We're both willing to put in the hard work, and that's what's important."

Raducanu added: "It was a great match. We both played really well and we were really happy to get the win for the team.

"We're both still young and we're still learning, but we're both ambitious and we want to achieve great things.

"I think we can push each other to new heights."

Great Britain will face Australia in the semi-finals on Friday, with the winner facing either Switzerland or the Czech Republic in the final on Saturday.
