BJP claims 'AAP is finished' after Kailash Gahlot quits party
Delhi BJP chief Adesh Gupta claims AAP has become directionless after Gahlot's exit
Gahlot's resignation is a big blow to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), said Delhi BJP chief Adesh Gupta
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday claimed that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is "finished" after senior leader Kailash Gahlot quit the party.
"AAP has become directionless after Gahlot's exit," said Delhi BJP chief Adesh Gupta.
Gahlot, who was the transport minister in the AAP government, resigned from the party on Monday, citing "personal reasons". He is likely to join the BJP soon.
Gupta said that Gahlot's resignation is a big blow to the AAP.
"Gahlot was one of the most experienced and respected leaders in the AAP," Gupta said.
"His exit will further weaken the party, which is already facing a leadership crisis," he added.
The BJP has been trying to woo Gahlot for some time now.
In fact, Gupta had met Gahlot last week and had offered him a ticket to contest the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.
It is not yet clear whether Gahlot will join the BJP.
However, his resignation from the AAP is a clear indication that he is unhappy with the party.
The AAP has been facing a series of setbacks in recent months.
In addition to Gahlot's resignation, the party has also lost several other leaders to the BJP.
The AAP is also facing a leadership crisis, with party chief Arvind Kejriwal being busy with his national ambitions.
The BJP is hoping to capitalize on the AAP's troubles and win the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.
