Billie Jean King Cup Finals: Expectation building for Great Britain before Canada quarter-final

British number one Harriet Dart believes expectation is building within the Great Britain team ahead of their Billie Jean King Cup Finals quarter-final against Canada.

Dart and her team-mates arrived in Glasgow on Monday ahead of their last-eight clash with Canada at the Emirates Arena on Wednesday. Great Britain are bidding to reach the semi-finals of the competition for the first time since 1981.

Dart, who is ranked 97th in the world, said: "I think there is a little bit of expectation, but I think that's a good thing. We're all playing well and we're all confident in each other. We know that we can beat anyone on our day, so we're just going to go out there and give it our all."

Great Britain captain Anne Keothavong has named a strong team for the quarter-final, with Dart joined by Katie Boulter, Heather Watson and doubles specialist Alicia Barnett.

Canada will be without their top player Bianca Andreescu, who has withdrawn from the tournament due to injury. However, they still have a number of dangerous players in their squad, including world number 19 Leylah Fernandez.

Dart is expecting a tough match against Canada, but she is confident that Great Britain can pull off an upset.

"Canada are a very good team and they're going to be tough to beat," she said. "But we're confident in our own abilities and we're going to go out there and give it our all. We know that we can win if we play to our potential."

The Billie Jean King Cup Finals is the biggest international team event in women's tennis. It is held annually and features the top 12 nations in the world.
