Babar Azam has surpassed Virat Kohli to become the second fastest player to reach 3000 runs in T20I cricket. The Pakistan captain achieved the feat during his side's third T20I against Australia in Lahore on Tuesday. Azam reached the milestone with a 41-run knock off 29 balls. He is now only behind India captain Rohit Sharma on the list of fastest players to reach 3000 T20I runs. Sharma had achieved the feat in 81 innings, while Azam took 83 innings to reach the milestone. Kohli, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest batsmen of all time, had reached the milestone in 90 innings. Azam's achievement is a testament to his consistent performances in T20I cricket. He is currently the number one ranked batsman in the format and has been in impressive form in recent months. In the third T20I against Australia, Azam played a key role in Pakistan's victory. He shared a 101-run partnership with Mohammad Rizwan for the second wicket as Pakistan chased down Australia's total of 162 with seven wickets to spare. Azam's knock included five fours and two sixes. He was dismissed in the 16th over by Josh Hazlewood. Pakistan's victory in the third T20I leveled the series 1-1. The fourth T20I will be played in Rawalpindi on Friday.
