Australia win series after thumping Pakistan by 11 runs

Nathan Ellis took 3-32 as Australia thumped Pakistan by 11 runs to win the Twenty20 series 2-0 in Perth on Friday.

Pakistan reached 11/1 after two overs. But, Mitchell Starc dismissed Babar Azam for a duck. Shadab Khan and Mohammad Rizwan then put on 60 for the second wicket. However, Ellis removed Rizwan for 33. Soon after, Shadab (34) fell to leg-spinner Adam Zampa.

Fakhar Zaman (29) and Mohammad Nawaz (31) offered some resistance. But, Pakistan needed 23 off Ellis’ final over. They could only manage 11, as Australia sealed the series.

Earlier, Josh Inglis (45) and Cameron Green (33) put on 69 for Australia’s first wicket. Mitchell Marsh (31) and Ben McDermott (28) kept the runs flowing.

Haris Rauf dismissed Inglis and Steve Smith in quick succession. But, Australia reached 162/8 thanks to cameos from Green and Marsh.

The victory gives Australia a 2-0 lead in the three-match series. The final match will be played in Melbourne on Sunday.
